Australian forests – Complex, mysterious... Deadly. The tangled branches and gloomy undergrowth provide perfect hideouts... Shadows in which to lie in wait... And secret lairs from which to launch a lethal ambush. A predator’s paradise. A line-up of perpetrators that cheat, swindle, and kill for a living. Known locally as the ‘Daintree Strangler’, the Amethystine Python stalks its victims before slowly choking the life from them. On a much smaller scale, Golden Orb Weaver Spiders, and Giant Centipedes prefer to use chemical weapons to snuff out their marks. Further south, a formidable marsupial carnivore; the Tiger Quoll inflicts grievous bodily harm on pademelons and wallabies... But even this nocturnal killer flees at the sight of a Tasmanian Devil – the forest’s toughest standover man. Of course, every neighborhood has its creeps. While the Red-bellied Black Snake actively pursues frogs along riverbanks, the Redback Spider prefers to ensnare its victims in a web of deceit.
