On September 19, 2010, Palus was born to the Oregon Zoo's two adult cougars, Paiute and Chinook. Palus was the result of a rare breeding recommendation from the American Zoological Association. He is an energetic and playful cub and his mother, Chinook, has demonstrated great patience with his antics.Both of Palus' parents were found orphaned and rescued at a young age.
