Oscar Menjivar, the founder of UrbanTxt, a nonprofit teaching coding and other tech skills to inner city LA teens. Their results are incredible: 100% of participants have gone on to four year universities, and GPA jumps of a full point and more are going off like popcorn. With hundreds of students applying for just 30 spaces, the organization is exploding. This summer, students are creating apps to combat local community issues. His talk title: "Computer Science Can Save the Life of Many Young Men of Color."

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
