A secure society has free and secure internet for all, without surveillance, censorship or government control, argues political cartoonist Kianoush Ramezani. Living in exile from his native Iran, Ramezani uses online channels as the principle platform for his work. He argues that in a secure society social media need to provide a special forum for activism. Ramezani fled Iran in 2009, and lives in exile in France. He is the founder of the SKETCH FREEDOM world movement dedicated to exiled cartoonists. He received the First International Editorial Cartoon Prize in 2012 from Kofi Annan and the city of Geneva, Switzerland.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
