Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master. ????My husband and I made the conscious decision to create an environment for our kids that doesn’t prioritize technology as a distraction and instead focuses on surrounding them with hands on fun that also allows them to learn by using motor skills like traditional toys and interactive activities. Our (almost) 4yr old daughter has been raised in this environment since birth, and we are in awe of her abilities and excitement to learn, play and discover daily!
???? This doesn’t mean we don’t use technology at all. We love watching movies and have fun with technology too but we also understand the danger in using screens/tech as a main entertainment tool or even worse, to distract our kids from needing us to interact with them so often. Basically we don’t want TV, social media, and smart devices to baby sit our kids or help raise our kids. This is why I never use my own iPhone as a tool to calm or shut my kids up. I’m not saying this to shame other parents, I’m saying this because with my first born I made the big mistake of introducing screens and tech toys too soon. I allowed it to become my escape from parenting and it only lessened my interaction with my child as it quickly became the only form of entertainment my he liked. Because of him, we know better, so we do better. ????
Ps: 95% of this room is from @Pottery Barn Kids — my baby registry when I was pregnant with her was from PBK and I transitioned her room from baby to toddler using all PBK furniture which is non-toxic and #GreenguardFurniture ????????
