48 Hours in Bahrain. So we land in Bahrain a small Kingdom Island in the Gulf and part of the G.C.C.
A little about Bahrain, a population of under 2 million, a 1-hour flight from Dubai and 40 mins to Doha with a connecting bridge to Saudi Arabia. We check in to the Ramada hotel in the Amwaj area which is near the airport. The Island is pretty small so any area you stay in is all good. The population is 50% ex-pat mostly Indian (mainly from Kerala), Bengalis, Filipinos, Pakistanis with a sprinkle of other nations from around the world. The currency in the Bahrani Dinar, one of the strongest currencies in the world (1 Dinar is about £2 or $2.65). Sandwiched between Saudi Arabia and Iran in the Persian Gulf, Bahrain is a Kingdom State with the monarchy being Al Khalifa family. Bahrain has a rich trading post history going back to the Dilmun period and like all countries in the region, it is very modern and in constant growth. Yes woman can drive, it is a Muslim country but is very liberal and tolerant of other religions, this includes Christian Churches, Hindu Temples, and even a Synagogue. So we are going to check out as much food as we can in 48 hours.
Arab Antique
This place is a short stroll from our hotel. Set in Amwaj Lagoon this place looks amazing, they have spent a great deal of time getting this place looking so good. We kick off with a Fattoush salad and a bowl of fantastic Mutable (Eggplant Dip). This is scooped up with freshly made bread. Next up we go for the Lamb Head, served on a bed of wonderful rice and lentils, a little scary at first but the taste is incredible, a little hard work but great. Already stuffed we go for the Chicken Stymer, this is served on the table in a pressure cooker and served. So pleased we went for this as it was the best dish. Fall off the bone chicken with a aromatic rice. This is washed down with a pot of red tea and a couple of cans of coke. The menu is huge and we really touched a few of the amazing food on offer. This all came in at 17BHD (Bahrani Dinar) which is about £34 or $45. Well worth the money, super tasty and a wonderful setting.

Mohd Noor
If you saw our last 48 hours in Dubai we went to Zam Zam for Mandi rice, well this time and as promised we are back for more. This time Mohd Noor in Bahrain. Shoes off and hands washed we sit down for a feast of grilled whole chicken, roasted chicken both on mandi and bukari rice, mixed grill, hummus, mutable and fattoush salad. What an amazing amount of super tender juicy chicken and meats with amazing tasty rice. Mood Noor have a few places around the Kingdom, they are cheap filling and delicious. I am stuffed and still had loads to take home with me.
