( ) The 2016 Ford Explorer is heading up market & up the power charts with the introduction of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder replacing the previous 2.0L engine.
The new 2016 Ford Explorer’s EcoBoost powerplant puts out 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque….that’s a 13 percent increase in horsepower and an 11 percent increase in torque over the outgoing 2.0L engine. Best of all according to Ford, the new 2.3L EcoBoost turbo-charged engine provides more power without using more fuel. And while the EPA has yet to official rate the 2016 Ford Explorer EcoBoost engine, Ford says the turbo-charged powerplant will achieve 28 MPG on the highway.
