There is no exact set of dates to define the Dark Ages, but it’s generally considered to be the early Middle Ages, from the late 5th century to the 11th century. It was both a time of advancement in areas like math and agriculture, and a time of church expansion: with the fall of the Roman Empire came the rise of the papacy.
