Check out Tony Plant's sand etchings.

Outdoor works of art can be beautiful, however most are temporary.

That fact doesn't seem to bother a remarkable artist, Tony Plant.

He creates swirled etchings or drawings into the sand. He chooses several beaches in England where the accompanying sand serves as his canvas.

Plant works during low tide, creating his masterpieces. When completed, they can only be truly appreciated if the viewer is looking from above. Up close, you can see circular shapes that make a swirl-like pattern and footprints in the sand reside next to the art.

An aerial view takes in the totality of the artwork. One of his pieces depicts a large circle with similar shaped, revolving patterns inside. Another showcases the twirl pattern once again but the shadowed sand whirlpools reside in a triangular shape.

Plant states "These Guerrilla style installations, above and below the tidal zones of some of the most exposed coastal locations in the land, are purely ephemeral, and may be gone within a few waves, a tide or a storm, deliberately made to disappear."

Amazingly, he makes these detailed works by using a common yard rake.
