Katrina Blair's mother, Pat Blair, discusses how raw food improved her health, including rheumatoid arthritis. This video is an excerpt from the DVD "Growing Roots: The Story of Turtle Lake Refuge" directed by Brian Barnes.

Here is an excerpt about Pat Blair from the book "Local Wild Life: Recipes for Living Deep" by Katrina Blair:

"When she was 17, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. For many years she went through multiple surgeries, ingested numerous pain killers (over 95,000 pills) and was told she would be in a wheelchair before the age of 40. At the age of 29, she read a book, "Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss, which inspired her to go on a 21 day fast. My father, Rob Blair, played a large role in her succeeding this first fast due to his committed efforts in making all the juices and taking care of the chores so my mom could rest. By the fourth day of the fast she was pain free after twelve years of suffering. This experience brought her to a major realization that there are alternate paths to health. She chose a preventive method that was much simpler and far more effective. This understanding led her to pursue a Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition from Goddard College, and begin a life-long journey of eliminating arthritis and pain through the self-empowering tool of nutrition."
