Emily Green is sick of the broken school lunch system in the US, and she just might be able to fix it.

After years of hearing about nothing but the problems with the American school lunch system, Emily wanted to talk about a solution to it. As the founder and Chief Lunch Lady of Smart Lunches, Emily thinks she has found an alternative that could bring healthy meals to children across the country by leveraging the power of local businesses and parents looking for part-time employment.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
