Hippopotamuses are among the deadliest species in the animal kingdom, and any animal for that matter. The third largest land mammal on land, they spend the majority of their lives in the water. And while they might look cute, these herbivores are designed to kill. During Africa's dry season, as the rivers recede and the waters run dry, hundreds of hippos get crammed in together.
