All adherents of Islam are invited to a public breaking of fast, or buka puasa, to be held every Ramadan weekend during the Ramadan Festival 2013 at Dataran Merdeka. Organized by the National Culture and Arts Department with the support of Jakim and DBKL, the "Jom Buka Puasa" events will have dates, traditional Malay cakes and bubur lambuk porridge, while also having programmes such as religious talks, nasyid singing, Quranic recitation and others.
