Dave suggests that the micro-economies which will flourish will be those who can best adapt, and uses the island of Tasmania as a case study.

Born and raised in Hobart (Tasmania), Dave completed his undergraduate degree at UTAS and then left the State in search of work. After living in Edinburgh and London Dave moved to Sydney where he met his beautiful wife and started a family.

Dave's professional background is diverse having worked in finance, local government and the Australian Army. These days Dave is a Principal at Hill PDA, an urban economics and planning consultancy, where he advises clients across Australia on urban renewal and regional development. Dave regularly guest lectures at Macquarie University and holds a Master of Public Administration (USYD), Master of Environmental Planning (Macquarie) and Bachelor of Commerce (UTAS).

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
