As the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, Boeing is almost a century old and has written part of its history with France.
The first links with France go back to 1910 when the young William Boeing attended the amazing flight demonstrations of French aviator Louis Paulhan in his biplane. This marked the start of his passion for airplanes. Six years later, he founded Boeing.
For nearly 60 years, all of Boeing’s families of airplanes have helped Air France to achieve its international reputation and many other French airlines to be successful. In the area of defense, the French Air Force also relies on Boeing for a number of specific military aircraft to run refueling, surveillance and protection missions.
To maintain its technological lead, Boeing draws on the skills of the best experts around the world. Today, there are a hundred French companies working on Boeing programs, which represents 4.5 billion dollars of contracts per year for France and maintains about 25,000 jobs in the country.
