Bio: Understanding that two brains are better than one and that every person has the ability to contribute meaningful insights into any given challenge, Justin Brow has developed a number of workforce innovation programs encouraging cross-sectoral business leaders to share their skills and perspectives to arrive at solutions through collaborative co-creation. Justin recently completed a comprehensive research exercise which investigated the enormous diversity of the Bellingen Shire and strove to present a snapshot on the thoughts, attitudes and opinions of the community in 2013. The report is now freely available. Justin lives in Bellingen with 7 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 4 goldfish and a beautiful, supportive partner.

Topic: Living in a community with such a high concentration of switched-on people, why don't we take more of an active role in determining the strategies which shape our future? Why does it seem that all the big picture stuff is left at the feet of government? Justin presents a simple model for communities to work 'in counsel with Council' while more effectively leveraging the local brains trust to collectively shape where we head as a community.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
